STIHL Magnesium Die Casting in Weinsheim, Germany, is expanding its manufacturing capacity for e-bike components in response to the steadily increasing market growth in the e-bike segment. With an investment volume of around EUR16 million, the installation of new production facilities in the form of machinery and associated infrastructure in the existing factory buildings is planned.
Magnesium engine housings are increasingly being used in the production of e-bikes. By replacing aluminum with magnesium, significant weight savings can be achieved, thus improving the functionality of the e-bikes.
On 14th January 2020, the winners of the Die Casting Competitions were announced at the award ceremony during EUROGUSS. The contests are held for the most important casting materials aluminum, zinc and magnesium and are conducted by the respective professional associations.
The Weinsheim plant of STIHL Magnesium Die Casting is expanded and new production logistics are added. The new building, with a floor space of 6,300 square meters, is scheduled to celebrate its grand opening in mid-2020.
