Sputtering Components Inc. Bühler Acquires Manufacturer of Vacuum Components

The US manufacturer of vacuum components Sputtering Components Inc. from Minnesota becomes a part of the Bühler Group. The company from Uzwil has taken over all shares from the previous owners and will integrate the company into its own coating division.

Sputtering Components Inc. (SCI) has been taken over by the Bühler Group. SCI is a US-based supplier of components and assemblies for large-surface vacuum coating systems. In the future, the company will operate as an independent business unit of the vacuum coating division of Bühler Leybold Optics. Antonio Requena, CEO of Bühler Leybold Optics, is pleased with the successful acquisition: "We have worked closely with SCI for many years. “Together we have achieved a leading market position, especially with coating systems for architectural glass. That is why we are proud to welcome the SCI team, with its expertise, its market reputation, and its commitment for high-quality products, to the Bühler group." The company, with more than 40 employees, will continue to be managed by the current management team. Barry Nudelman, the current CEO, will step down from his position, but will continue to support SCI throughout the transition period. Andy Britt, the current Vice President Sales of Bühler Aeroglide, will head SCI as Managing Director upon completion of the sale.
