Simulation Casting Process revolutionized by Click2Cast
Altair Engineering and Solid Thinking presented the new Click2Cast 2018 release as a world premiere at Euroguss, which took place in Nuremberg from January 16 to 18, 2018. Powerful geometry creation and modeling capabilities have been added to the software, allowing users to design and optimize the entire casting process on a single platform.
With the release of Click2Cast, designers and development engineers will be able to communicate on a common working platform for the first time. It offers a wide range of tools. With this tool, components can be modified, porous areas identified and remedial feeders and sheaths as well as cooling ducts can be created. In addition, the complete development process of high-quality components can be evaluated and improved.
"Click2Cast is recognized worldwide for being fast, simple, accurate and cost-effective. That's why it was very important for us to achieve a balance between usability and functionality in this latest release," said Ravi Kunju, Vice President of Manufacturing Solutions at Altair. “We are very pleased that we didn’t have to make any compromises, even though we have added powerful features. The approach of using our Solid Thinking Inspire Framework to advance the use of simulation tools to an early design stage had a huge impact on the construction scene. Now we do the same with casting simulation by introducing Click2Cast into the same environment as Inspire. Our development teams have worked very hard and have done a great job on both our solvers and the user interface. We are convinced that the user experience will inspire users even more."
Combining Powerful Functionality with Affordability
The official release of the new version is planned for March 2018, but visitors of the Euroguss were able to get a first impression of its powerful functions. The new version offers significant improvements:
- Completely new user interface based on the Inspire Framework with powerful geometry creation and modeling capabilities
- Possibility of modelling and rapid modification of sprue systems, feeders, coolers, overflows and sheaths (iso- and exothermic)
- Automatic generation of core geometries (export ready for 3D printing)
- One-click solidification simulation
- Advanced visualization functions including flow front temperature development
- Dynamic and multiple partial sections of the view plane
- Support of various file formats (CAD-native)

New Functions: Sprue Modeling and Modeling of Cooling Sections
