Those who take an exploratory tour to local car manufacturers in remote corners of the Auto Shanghai, quickly encounters barriers. The names of the mostly small exhibitors is often only written in Chinese on the stands. Questions asked in the world language English are answered by the often very young hostesses with a friendly but completely helpless look.

There are over 100 companies in China that manufacture cars. Only a few of them also exhibit at the big performance show in Shanghai. All those companies whose products never leave the country anyway are therefore not prepared for questions from European explorers. Nevertheless, the search for new Chinese electric cars resulted in many surprises.
