The foundry group DGS Druckguss Systeme AG decided to invest in rheocasting equipment from Comptech to improve the launch of new products. In addition, both companies agreed to mutually develop the rheocasting process and its applications.
Innovative technologies for processing light metal alloys have undergone enormous development in recent years. These include rheocasting – a special casting process in which liquid aluminium is cooled and stirred until it reaches semi solid. The SAG (Salzburger Aluminium Group) uses this foundry process to manufacture components such as safety cab suspensions for trucks or air reservoirs for the automotive industry.
This may be a very strong sentence, but our point is that High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) as we know it today is undergoing rapid changes in terms of technology, industrial structure and customer demands. As the changes are so big, we think it is in order to speak about a technology shift that probably will change our industry in a few years.
