Andreas Kuhlmann, CEO of Dena, says: "We are particularly pleased that - as in previous years and despite the tense economic situation - a large number of applications have been received. The selected projects are good examples of how investments in energy efficiency and climate protection pay off. What's more, especially now in the corona pandemic, innovative solutions can become important growth drivers. The concepts and projects of the competition participants show groundbreaking solutions on the way to climate neutrality. In addition to further technical developments, holistic approaches that combine individual measures to increase energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions across sectors are becoming increasingly important.

In April 2020 Dena called on private and public companies in Germany and abroad to submit successful projects and innovative approaches to reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Over 140 companies responded to the call and submitted their projects in four different categories. The jury has now nominated three companies per category. In the category "Concepts for climate-neutral companies" the nominated companies will have the chance to convince the audience of their concepts in a live pitch at the Dena Energy Turnaround Congress. The voting will then decide which concept will be awarded the audience prize.

The Energy Efficiency Award

Dena has been awarding this prestigious prize since 2007. The internationally announced award is endowed with prize money totaling 30,000 euros and is under the patronage of the Federal Minister of Economics, Peter Altmaier. The Energy Efficiency Award is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi) and supported by the premium partner the German Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW).
