As we already mentioned in our whitepaper, Mexico becomes more and more important for the international automotive industry: A good geographical location, especially with regard to the US, as well as favorable political and economic factors, favour Mexico not only as a global trading partner but also as a manufacturing site. It is therefore not surprising that not only suppliers but also OEMs are increasingly moving to Central America.

Manufacturing in Mexico
Nissan Mexicana, S.A. de C.V. already started assembling vehicles in Mexico in 1966 when it began producing the Datsun Bluebird in CIVAC Plant, Morelos. This manufacturing facility was the company's first plant to be built outside Japan. Aguascalientes is located 426 kilometers northwest of the capital Mexico City, the city has a population of about 1.3 million people. The most important components such as the engines are inspected by hand and machine. Once each car is assembled, they undergo several tests under various conditions to ensure their reliability. The Aguascalientes plant even has a test track where all the models produced will have to prove their quality.
Nissan manufactures and distributes vehicles in North America. It also produces engines, gearboxes, and other parts. Nissan Mexicana has production plants in Cuernavaca, Aguascalientes, and Aguascalientes.
