In 2020 Formnext Connect is the virtual alternative for business and knowledge exchange for the global AM community in these times of a global pandemic. Formnext Connect brings the fAMily together until 31 December 2020!
Unfortunately, the Corona pandemic still has us all firmly in its grip. However, current developments give rise to hopes. Also for the economy. After months of stagnation, the economy needs trade fairs as a motor for innovation and value creation.
Due to corona, Formnext Connect, the digital version of Formnext, the industry’s leading platform for additive manufacturing and industrial 3D printing, made its debut from 10-12 November 2020. The success of the virtual event exceeded all expectations and shows the potential and benefits of digital communication platforms for all participants.
Geometry and material in harmony is the theme of this year’s international purmundus challenge. The design competition for 3D and 4D printing is placing a deliberate focus on the interplay of materials and design against the backdrop of dwindling resources and important environmental issues, and thus stimulating innovation for sustainable development through the use of modern additive technologies. As is tradition, the finalists and winners of the purmundus challenge will be featured at Formnext, which is taking place from 10 to 13 November 2020.
Formnext 2020 is set to take place as scheduled in Frankfurt from 10 – 13 November 2020, but with a revised innovative trade fair format including a comprehensive health protection concept and a new digital component. The leading international trade fair for additive manufacturing and modern industrial production is thus sending an important message to the additive manufacturing world and the exhibition industry as a whole.
As the world attempts to get a handle on the coronavirus pandemic, we have seen restrictions imposed on public life including a large-scale move toward working from home or, where this is not possible, shift work, as well as numerous cancellations of events. Everyone has their part to play in helping to slow the spread and supporting the health services.
34,532 specialists and managers (2018: 26,919) were swept away by an impressive Formnext 2019. 852 exhibitors (2018: 632) made Messe Frankfurt the stage for the ever-increasing fields of application of additive manufacturing. The move to the modern and architecturally-sophisticated exhibition halls 11 and 12, which was due to strong growth, has thus proved its worth.
