Previously, Peter Hofmann was Senior Vice President for Research, Development and Digitisation at Krones AG in Neutraubling, Bavaria. He studied aerospace engineering and computer science at the University of Stuttgart. After completing his doctorate in computer science, he began his professional career as a development engineer at Daimler-Benz AG in Sindelfingen. In various positions at the company, he acquired a comprehensive knowledge in the development and production of sophisticated products in an international environment. In 2003, he was appointed Honorary Professor for Mechatronic Systems in Automobiles by the Technical University of Dresden.
In 2005, Dr. Hofmann switched to automation technology. As head of technology at Bürkert GmbH in Ingelfingen, he was responsible for the development of control components. From 2010 to 2017, he worked for Festo AG in Esslingen. As Vice President, he was responsible for developing the new Process Automation business unit. Following the successful establishment of this business unit, Dr. Hofmann was Senior Vice President Global Research and Development for Festo AG from 2013 to 2017.
