Sustainability New Filter System for the Foundry at HAI
Editor: Nicole Kareta
Aluminum expert Hammerer Aluminium Industries has commissioned a new filter system at its casting plant in Ranshofen. The EUR2 million investment in environmental protection was made to improve air quality at the foundry. With the new filter system, the legal limits, which will be tightened in 2021, will even be significantly undercut.
To ensure that production can continue even during maintenance or possible repairs, the extraction capacity was divided into two independently operating lines.

With the generous planning of the new filter plant, HAI in Ranshofen is secured for the future. The extraction capacity has been more than doubled from 76,600 Bm3/h to 160,000 Bm3/h. Continuous electronic monitoring of dust levels in the exhaust air, including an automatic alarm, ensures safety in the foundry.
To ensure that production can continue even during maintenance or possible repairs, the extraction capacity was divided into two independently operating lines of 80,000 Bm3/h each. The HAI foundry in Ranshofen produces around 80,000 tons of extrusion billets and rolling ingots per year for further processing into profiles and component parts - primarily in its own extrusion plants. The use of recycled material is over 80 %.
