EUROGUSS Panel Discussion on Sustainability on 5.10.2021 Reduce, Offset, Invest: How to Achieve Sustainability in the Foundry Industry
Discussion between high-calibre experts from the die casting industry: In the run-up to EUROGUSS, a discussion panel with experts from the climate protection, foundry and mechanical engineering will explore approaches to more sustainable production. The live stream will start on 5.10.2021 at 15:15 and will be available afterwards as a recording.
Greater public awareness of environmental and climate protection issues, international accords like the Paris Agreement, and political initiatives like the Green New Deal are pointing the way ahead: industry needs to become more sustainable. As an energy-intensive sector, the die casting industry is showing a lot of initiative. Other drivers are the ambitious programmes of many OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers aiming to make automobile production increasingly climate-neutral right through to the supply chain level. In this context, CO2 emission is becoming a new control parameter.
Live Talk on 5.10.2021
What does this mean for foundries? How do you offset your own carbon footprint? How can companies benefit economically through more sustainable production? Is climate neutrality the new “premium” or will it soon be standard? How do climate-neutral foundries ensure their (international) competitiveness?
These and other aspects will be discussed during the panel. The participants are experts and decision-makers from the sustainability and CO2 offsetting segments, foundry industry, mechanical engineering and procurement sectors.
- Dr Cristian Reisinger, Managing Director ConClimate GmbH – ConClimate advises mid-sized companies on CO2 offsetting, climate protection strategies and sustainability reporting.
- Ulrich Schwab, Technical Director, Adolf Föhl GmbH + Co. KG – FÖHL is one of the first foundries with climate-neutral production, in part thanks to the use of innovative technologies
- Dr Ioannis Ioannidis, President CEMAFON and Managing Director of Oskar Frech GmbH + Co. KG – the company is a leading supplier of die casting technologies
- Moderator: Martin Vogt, press spokesperson, HDGI (German Foundry Industry Centre), Düsseldorf

Sustainability Survey Results to be Presented at EUROGUSS
The discussion panel will take place in the run-up to EUROGUSS 2022. At the exhibition itself in January 2022, the issue of sustainability will play an important role: A new sustainability survey commissioned by EUROGUSS will provide an overview of the industry’s commitment to this issue. The independent study is based on a survey of EUROGUSS exhibitors and is being conducted by the Department of Corporate Sustainability at Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg. The results will be presented at the exhibition.
