The Ten Best-Selling E-Cars in the First Half of 2018

| Author / Editor: Jakob Schreiner / Alexander Stark

A look at the top ten best-selling electric vehicles shows that German manufacturers are far from being the measure of all things when it comes to electromobility. In total, half of the top-ten are imported car brands.

2nd place: VW E-Golf (2,561 new registrations)

In the first half of 2018, Germany's most popular electric car remained to be the Renault Zoe. Between January and June, the compact Frenchman was sold 2,691 times, according to new registrations published by the Federal Motor Transport Authority. With 2,561 units, the VW E-Golf is on the second place. The Smart Fortwo, which found 2,333 buyers during the first six months of this year, is also on the winner's rostrum.

In contrast to the number of other newly registered cars published by the authority, E-cars are not dominated by German manufacturers. Five cars from imported brands are among the top ten best-selling electric cars, as the following picture gallery shows.
